ALMIGHTY God, who hast enriched thy Church with the singular learning and holiness of thy servant Thomas: Grant us to hold fast the true doctrine of thy Son our Saviour Jesus Christ, and to fashion our lives according to the same, to the glory of thy great Name and the benefit of thy holy Church; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. A philosopher and theologian, Thomas Aquinas was born in Roccasecca, Italy. Combining the theological principles of faith with the philosophical principles of reason, he was one of the most influential thinkers of medieval Scholasticism. An authority of the Catholic Church and a prolific writer, Aquinas died on March 7, 1274.
